Roger Bunker

Roger originally became involved with Ben Bronz during the four years of high school his daughter spent there.  He frequently comments that her time at BBA “saved her life”.  Therefore, in 2014, he willingly accepted Ian’s invitation to join the new Board.  Currently, he and his wife, Judi are educational surrogate parents appointed by the Connecticut State Department of Education to exercise the educational rights of children with special educational needs who are committed to the Connecticut Department of Children and Families.  They also volunteer to assist other families with children with special educational needs.  Previously, Roger was an attorney for more than 20 years, practicing in the areas of special education and abuse and neglect.  Judi taught special education for children with autism and severe emotional needs for CREC’s River Street School.

Roger and Jud have lived in Bloomfield for almost 40 years.  He is currently a member of Bloomfield’s Juvenile Review Board, Youth Adult Council, Interfaith Housing Board, and Community Awareness Task Force.  He is a graduate of Harvard College with a BA in Government, Columbia University with a Masters in International Affairs, and the UCONN School of Law.  He served on active duty in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968 and retired with the rank of Captain.
