Jose has worked for the Connecticut Department of Correction for close to 33 years, currently assigned as the Warden at the New Haven Community Correctional Center. He has been an Administrator for twenty years.
While assigned to Manson Youth Institution, which houses offenders age fourteen to twenty-one, Jose ensured that offenders received meaningful educational opportunities, in a safe environment, despite the many obstacles that incarcerated youth face.
Jose has spent his career advocating for offenders to impact recidivism and provide educational and programming opportunities to those who could not advocate for themselves. He has been recognized by community leaders as an innovative and dedicated partner and recognizes that children need a strong foundation for learning, and given the right tools, anyone can succeed.
